(Warning: I have very eclectic taste in fiction!)
My Sister’s Keeper, Jodi Picoult - I have heard of Jodi Picoult for years but have only recently read any of her books. She is definitely on my list of favorite authors now! Ms. Picoult has a beautiful literary style that is very readable, and her plotlines focus on incidents you might read in the headlines. This wonderful, heartbreaking story about a family dealing with a life-threatening disease of one of its members, and the effect it has on all of them, had me riveted to the page until the wee hours of the morning. This is the sort of storyline you will discuss and debate with your friends long after you reach ‘The End.’
Intensity, Dean Koontz - Oh my gosh. This is one of the most frightening novels I’ve ever read, with one of the strongest, most admirable heroines I’ve ever met. What makes it even scarier is the fact that it isn’t supernatural like so many of Mr. Koontz’s novels. The plotline involves a monster, yes, but a human one! Enough said! Read it with the lights on!
The Book Thief, Markus Zusak - A beautiful World War II story told from the point of view of a young German girl and written by an amazingly talented young author. I loved this book.
